Transfers

Under the Oklahoma Education Open Transfer Act, schools may accept transfer students on a first-come, first-served basis. Acceptance depends on school and program capacity, as well as student attendance and behavior. State law requires all transfers to be reviewed annually using these criteria. To remain eligible for renewal, students must maintain good attendance and positive behavior throughout the year. Additionally, Union Public Schools reserves the right to reassign elementary transfer students to a different school site if necessary to balance capacity. If approved the parent is responsible for transporting transfer students to and from school

For student-athletes, new OSSAA rules allow one transfer with immediate eligibility—without sitting out a year or changing residences—provided the required paperwork is submitted by the July 15 deadline. After that, a hardship waiver is required. This offers a one-time opportunity to change schools with proper OSSAA approval.
